The Pfälzerwald path is 142 km in length and nine designated daily stages of the second longest predicate trail - after Palatine Weinsteig and before Palatine Höhenweg - in the Pfalz ( Rheinland-Pfalz ).

The Palatinate Forest Path leads in a north-south direction from Kaiserslautern to Schweigen-Rechtenbach , where there is a connection to the Palatinate Weinsteig . The hiking route, which was opened in spring 2011, runs entirely within the Palatinate Forest , which forms the northern part of the German - French Biosphere Reserve Palatinate Forest-Northern Vosges .

The hiking trail uses one of the main tourist attractions of the Palatinate, the centrally located and extensively wooded low mountain range of the Palatinate Forest with its inclines and descents. There are 3140 vertical meters on the ascent and 3168 vertical meters on the descent. The lowest point is 178 m in the hamlet of Sankt Germanshof near the border with France and the highest is 610 m on the summit of the Weißenberg , which belongs to the district of Merzalben .

Nine stages between 10 and 23 km are recommended for the entire hike.
