The Hornmühlbach is a 4.4 km long right tributary of the Ascha in the district of Schwandorf in Upper Palatinate in Bavaria . It rises in the Geißlohe, where it initially feeds numerous fish ponds. During its entire course it flows mainly in a southerly direction. Between Bruderbügerl and Gaisthal he crosses State Road 2159 . It flows further south through the Geißlohe. To the north-west of Schönthan , it takes on two nameless brooks that flow from the left and right. At the Hornmühle it flows west past Schönthan. The Hornmühlbach passes a valley cut between the 530 meter high Hammerbühl in the west and the 547 meter high Vogelherd in the east. Here it crosses under the Bavarian-Bohemian Friendship Path , which is located on the former Nabburg – Schönsee railway line . About 500 meters further south, the Hirzingbach flows into the Hornmühlbach from the right. Two more nameless streams flow from the right. Then the Hornmühlbach reaches the extensive pond area that the Ascha forms north of Winklarn. Here it flows into the Ascha about 300 meters north of Scheibenhaus.
