Horst Willim

Horst Willim (born January 30, 1927 in Luck ; † January 7, 2007 ) was a German trade unionist ( FDGB ). He was chairman of the central board of the chemical industry union .

Life

Willim, son of an employee, attended the elementary and middle school and learned the trade of electrician . On April 20, 1944, he became a member of the NSDAP - like many Hitler Youths of his year . In the same year he was drafted into the Wehrmacht .

After the end of the war he worked again as an electrician and in 1945 became a member of the FDGB and youth spokesman in a works council. In 1946 he became a member of the SED . In 1947 he was FDGB youth secretary in the Löbau district , then in 1947/48 he was youth secretary and member of the executive board of the FDGB state board of Saxony and youth secretary of the FDGB district board of Dresden . From 1948 to 1950 he worked as training secretary of the FDGB federal executive committee and in 1950 studied at the party college "Karl Marx" .

In 1951 he was first deputy chairman, from 1952 to 1958 then chairman of the central board of the IG Chemie in the FDGB. As chairman of IG Chemie, he took part in the meeting of the administrative committee of the International Federation of Labor Unions of the Chemical, Petroleum and Similar Industries in Budapest in May 1957 . In July 1958, Willim was deposed as chairman of the Chemical Industry Union because of “serious political and ideological deficiencies” and received a “probation assignment”. From 1958 to 1960 he worked as an electrician at VEB Maschinenfabrik Halle (Saale) . From 1960 to 1963 he then acted as deputy chairman of the FDGB district executive committee for Karl-Marx-Stadt . In 1963/64 he was an employee of the organization department in the FDGB federal executive committee. Between 1964 and 1967 he studied at the engineering school in Berlin-Lichtenberg . From 1967 to 1989 he worked as a department head for occupational safety in the FDGB federal board. In February 1974 Willim was appointed representative of the FDGB in the Standing Commission of the WGB on problems of environmental protection . In April 1978 he and Horst Heintze took part in the International Occupational Safety and Health Symposium “Secura 78” in Poznan .

From 1954 to 1958 Willim was also a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR.
