Hubert Koch (traffic educator)

Hubert Koch (born October 7, 1950 in Bochum ) is a German traffic educator and expert in traffic safety, as well as a management consultant and public affairs manager .

education

From 1969 to 1975, Hubert Koch studied German , social studies ( political science , sociology , economics ), education and modern history at the Free University of Berlin . From 1975 to 1976 he worked as a research assistant, from 1976 to 1981 as a research assistant at the chair for traffic education and applied psychology at the University of Essen with Wolfgang Böcher . In 1979 he was there with magna cum laude to the Dr. phil. PhD

job

1978 Hubert Koch developed the educational concept for the then new ADAC - safe driving training for motorcyclists. In 1985 he reached an agreement between motorcycle manufacturers to advertise their products less aggressively and initiated campaigns for more partnership between motorists and motorcyclists. Later he coordinated the Better Braking campaign , which advocated the use of ABS on motorcycles. The don't drug + drive campaign , which aims to make young people aware of the dangers of drug use in traffic, was also largely organized by him. From 2004 to 2006 Koch held a traffic psychology and sociology teaching position at the TU Berlin .

In 1981 Hubert Koch founded the Institute for Two-Wheeler Safety in Bochum and was its managing director until 1990. From 1991 to 2000 he was the general manager and voting member of the executive committee of the Industrieverband Motorrad Deutschland eV in Essen . He played a key role in the conception and founding of the Motorcycle Industry Association. During his tenure, he developed the Intermot , the world's second largest motorcycle fair . In 2004 he founded the European Motorcycle Institute together with Alexander Sporner .

Since 2001, Koch has been working as an independent political , communications and association consultant. He is the owner or managing partner of the company Dr. Koch Consulting eK and Dr. Koch Capital Office GmbH & Co. KG. As a “lobby coach”, he teaches company and association representatives the skills to represent their interests independently.

Author activity and media presence

From the mid-seventies, Koch appeared as an author on the subject of traffic education and psychology and published numerous specialist articles, but also textbooks and films in this area. He also appeared in the media as a traffic expert. In line with his professional orientation, Koch's authoring work has shifted to lobbying and public affairs in recent years. To this end, he published articles in specialist magazines such as the Association Report or on political blogs. In December 2014, Thomas Leif interviewed him on the show Leif meets about lobbying. Koch also appeared in Manager Magazin as an expert on SME lobbyism.

Volunteering

Hubert Koch is chairman of the board of trustees of the Raesfeld, Erle, Homer community foundation .
