Life and artistic career

Hubertine Heijermans started drawing very early and took painting lessons from Jos Rovers from 1951 to 1954. In 1955, after graduating from high school, she received a scholarship at the Reich Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam, where she took life drawing lessons from Gé Röling . Married to Nils Tellander, she moved to Lausanne , where her son Anian was born in 1960. She painted many landscapes around Lake Geneva . From 1968 to 1973 she studied etching techniques with Swietlan Kraczyna at the American Art School, the European section of the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences in Florence in the Villa Schifanoia above Fiesole .

In 1972 the artist won the "Premio Brunellesco" for seven oil paintings . In 1973 she returned to Switzerland and lived in Chesières-Villars near the Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil , where her son went to school. There she painted many mountain landscapes and also worked on a 200 kg printing press of the “Bendini” brand, which she took from Italy. Heijermans has lived in Saint-Triphon since 1981 . In the summer of '81 she completed a four-month training course with Luis Camnitzer from New York, a teacher at Pratt's Institute , who gave a course in Valdottavo (Italy) on the complicated photo-etching technique. Back in St. Triphon, she set up her studio for photogravures. In the canton of Vaud, she worked according to the aquatint process until 1988, using metal plates made of copper and zinc, resin, asphalt and various acids.

Heijermans painted many half-length portraits of actresses such as Emmanuelle Béart and Isabelle Adjani , of mannequins such as Naomi Campbell and Carla Bruni , of fashion designers such as Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Paul Gaultier and, last but not least, several pictures from the world of the Knie Circus .

At the age of 60 she began training with the Spanish painter Jesus Peñarreal . In Alicante she spent ten winters painting and also studied works by the Spanish impressionist Joaquin Sorolla (1863–1924) at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos in Valencia and the expressionist Joaquim Mir (1873–1940) in Barcelona . Your current style was influenced by these Spanish masters. In 2006 the artist discovered Bages , a small French fishing village in the Aude department , where numerous works were created. Back again, the artist has been painting in her studio in St-Triphon for many years. Many oil paintings of the surroundings such as the Rhone Valley with its mountain ranges ( Dents du Midi and "Le Grand Muveran"), but also of models by their favorite designers John Galliano and Manish Arora on the catwalk were created here. In 2015 she showed her latest paintings in Fully in the canton of Valais.
