Hugo Friedrich Fries

Hugo Friedrich Fries (born January 9, 1818 in Jena , † March 25, 1889 in Weimar ) was a German judge . Before and after the founding of the German Empire , he was a member of the Reichstag .

Life

As the son of Jakob Friedrich Fries Fries studied 1837-1840 jurisprudence at the Georg-August University of Göttingen and the University of Jena . He was a member of the fraternity society on the Burgkeller Jena (1837) and the Corps Guestphalia Göttingen (1838) and Thuringia Jena (1841). After completing his studies, he entered the civil service of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar in 1841 . From 1845 to 1850 he was a lawyer and from 1848 to 1850 mayor of Berka . He moved to Weimar in 1850 and worked there as a lawyer. From 1862 he was chairman of the municipal council for twelve years. At the same time he was chairman of the Weimar-Geraer railway company and president of the regional court. In 1859 he was one of the founders of the German National Association and was a member of the board. From 1870 he was a board member of the National Liberal Party .

He was a member of the Thuringian state parliament and its president from 1865 to 1889. In February 1867 he came to the Reichstag (North German Confederation) and the customs parliament . From the Reichstag election in 1871 to the Reichstag election in 1874 , he sat for the National Liberal Party in the Reichstag (German Empire) . As a member of parliament, he represented the constituency of Weimar 1 (Weimar – Apolda).
