Hugo Menze
Hugo Menze (born December 21, 1931 in Unna ; † October 18, 2015 in Freudenstadt ) was a German historian and Germanist .
Life
After graduating from high school at Hittorf-Gymnasium in Recklinghausen, Menze studied history and German studies in Bonn and Freiburg im Breisgau from 1952 . During his studies he joined the Freiburg Wingolf in 1953 . In 1957, he was with a work at Gerhard Ritter on German-Austrian connection attempts before 1933, especially in 1931 his doctorate . He passed his 2nd state examination in Bielefeld . He then worked as a teacher at the Altsprachliches Gymnasium in Minden / Westphalia. In 1966 he became a teacher at the commercial Eduard-Spranger School in Freudenstadt, where he remained until his retirement, most recently as Director of Studies worked. In addition to history and German studies, he taught art and ethics there . Menze also published numerous books. For his work Die Kultusminister und Bildungspolitik in Baden-Württemberg 1945–2006 he received the state's Staufer medal .
From 1973 to 1989 he was a member of the local council for the FDP. In 2014, he was awarded the golden Christophstaler for his services to Freudenstadt.
