Hunter Craig Kemper (born May 4, 1976 in Charlotte , North Carolina ) is an American triathlete and four-time starter at the Summer Olympics (2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012).

Career

Hunter Kemper has started as a triathlon professional since 1998. In 2000, he started at the Olympic Games in Sydney at the age of 24.

Between 1998 and 2011 he won the title of national champion on the short distance triathlon seven times.

Winner Triathlon World Cup 2005

In 2005 he became the first US American to win the ITU Triathlon World Cup. He was the first ever triathlete to be named Athlete of the Year by the United States National Olympic Committee in 2005 ( USOC Athlete of the Year ).

As the only triathlete so far besides the German Anja Dittmer and the Canadian Simon Whitfield , he has competed four times at the Olympic Games (2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012). He achieved his best ranking in 2008 as the best American with seventh place. He was also aiming for a qualification for 2016, which he did not achieve. He has not appeared internationally since 2016.

Hunter Kemper lives in Longwood, Florida with his wife Valerie Kemper and their four children .
