Hydrazinium dichloride is a chemical compound from the group of hydrazinium salts .

Extraction and presentation

Hydrazinium dichloride can be obtained by reacting hydrazine with hydrochloric acid in a special process, since the reaction usually results in hydrazinium chloride or a mixture of both compounds.

properties

Hydrazinium dichloride is a non-flammable, light yellow, odorless solid. When heated above about 198 ° C it decomposes into hydrazinium chloride and hydrogen chloride . Its aqueous solution reacts strongly acidic. The compound has a cubic crystal structure with the space group Pa 3 (space group no. 205) (a = 1.249 nm, b = 2.185 nm, c = 0.441 nm). Template: room group / 205

use

Hydrazine dihydrochloride is used as a chlorine scavenger in hydrogen chloride gas streams. In the photo industry it is used as a developer additive to increase the developer speed. It was also used in copper and brass cleaning agents in the past .
