The Ifingerhütte ( Italian Rifugio Picco Ivigna ) is a refuge in the Sarntal Alps in South Tyrol , Italy .

Location and surroundings

The Ifingerhütte is located on the western slope of the Ifinger at 1815  m slm in the area of ​​the municipality of Schenna . To climb the eponymous mountain via the normal route , you first have to bypass it via the Ifingerscharte to the south to the Oswaldscharte located east of the summit . From here a path leads to the Ifinger as well as to the northeast to the Verdinser Plattenspitze . From the hut you can also take a path leading south to the 2255  m high Lauwand , an elevation in the ridge leading from the Ifinger to the south-west.

history

The Ifingerhütte was built in 1913 by the Friends of Nature Section Merano and inaugurated in 1914. After the First World War , as a result of which South Tyrol was annexed by Italy, the state expropriated the owners and handed the hut over to the Merano section of the Club Alpino Italiano .
