Ignaz Sonnleithner , from 1828 Ignaz Edler von Sonnleithner (born July 30, 1770 in Vienna , † November 27, 1831 in Vienna), Dr. jur., was an Austrian lawyer and author . The Sonnleithner Salon , which he ran from 1815 to 1824 in the Gundelhof in Vienna , was the most important musical salon of the early Biedermeier period .

family

Sonnleithner was married to Anna Putz (* 1773; † 1824). He was the son of Christoph Sonnleithner and Maria Anna Dobler (* 1739; † 1810). One of his sons was Leopold von Sonnleithner . His brother was Joseph Sonnleithner . His sister Maria Anna Sonnleithner (* 1767; † 1819), from January 12, 1789 married to Dr. Wenzel Grillparzer (* 1760; † 1809), was the mother of Franz Grillparzer .

Sonnleithner was raised to the Austrian nobility on April 20, 1828 in Vienna with a diploma from June 14, 1828 .

Life

Sonnleithner attended the Theresian Knight Academy and then studied law. In 1794 he became a doctor of law. PhD. From 1795 to 1829 he was court and court advocate , from 1801 to 1810 associate professor for commercial and bill of exchange law at the University of Vienna , and from 1803 to 1829 notary . He was kk advice. He was also a writer and founder of the General Pension Fund. From 1815 to 1824 he ran the Sonnleithner Salon , a musical salon in the Gundelhof , in which numerous songs by Franz Schubert were premiered (“Schubertiaden”). His funny sayings were legendary and made the rounds in Vienna long after his death. In his memoirs, Eduard von Bauernfeld writes : "Grillparzer's uncle on the maternal side was a famous Viennese prankster."

He was buried in the Matzleinsdorf cemetery in Vienna's 5th district in 1831 . In 1890 Sonnleithnergasse in Vienna- Favoriten was named after him.
