Ihar Schaljasouski
Ihar Schaljasouski ( Belarusian Ігар Жалязоўскі ; Russian Игорь Николаевич Железовский , Igor Zhelezovski * 1. July 1963 in Orsha , Belarus ) is a former speed skater , who in international competitions until 1991 for the Soviet Union , in 1992 for its successor organization independent Community States and then started for Belarus.
He is one of the most successful sprinters in speed skating and was nicknamed "Igor the Terrible" because of his successes. He was world sprint champion six times . This brand is unmatched to this day.
At the Olympic Games he was only able to win bronze in the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary and in 1994 in Lillehammer silver over 1000 meters.
After the Winter Games in Lillehammer, he ended his career and later became President of the Belarusian Speed Skating Association.
