Illerbachen is a suburb of the Berkheim community in the Biberach district in Upper Swabia .

description

Illerbachen is located at the foot of the Molasse slopes Banberg and Jägerberg , on the western side of the central Illertal . The castle of Illerbachen , which was lost, was located on the Jägerberg . In 1164 a knight Richfried von Bachheim was mentioned in the documents of the Rot an der Rot monastery . A Ulrich of sows was 1181, a porter of Swabia Duke Welf VI. The village was ecclesiastically independent from 1275 to 1400. In 1553 the place had 15 dwellings. Between 1707 and 1708 the church of St. Josef was rebuilt by the Rot an der Rot monastery. In 1806 the community was incorporated into the Kingdom of Württemberg .

New houses outside the town center were built at the end of the 20th century on the slopes of the Banberg on both sides of the Roter Straße in the direction of Jägerberg. The place is drained by the Weiherwiesenbach and the Schweinsgraben . Notable businesses , in addition to the small village, which is characterized by agriculture, is a picture frame factory founded in 1955 on Schweinsgraben, the Max Wild company and leather goods factory Göppel. In the village there is a rifle club with an associated shooting range in the Gasthaus Krone.

The most famous person from Illerbachen was Bernhard Riedmiller , who as captain led a Bludenz rifle company and later played a key role in the reconquest of Lindau and the siege of Constance during the Austro-French War .
