action

Mickey, the brother of the singer Carlotta, is found seriously injured in his sister's dressing room at a nightclub in Casablanca after an argument with a stranger . The nightclub owner portrays the incident to the police as an accident. Before his death, on the way to the hospital, Mickey talks confusedly and mentions a ship's name, the sum of 2 million dollars in gold and something from investments. Since a gold load from the Bundesbank is currently on the way to Casablanca, the local police inform the FBI , which sends the agent Lemmy Caution to Casablanca under a false name.

In the night club, Lemmy meets his old friend, the journalist GDP. He informs him about the people present in the night club. His actual contact person, Duncan, finds Lemmy shot dead in a club telephone booth. Lemmy does not find the body at first. During Carlotta's singing, another man is shot: Willy Frame, who previously sat at the table of Carlotta and her agent Rudy Saltierra. Lemmy confronts Carlotta and Saltierra about the murder in their dressing room, but Saltierra gets an alibi from the lighting technician Skendt to the police.

Lemmy learns the address of the illuminator from a bartender and lets them drive her there. From this Lemmy learns that Saltierra is not only the killer of Mickey, but also of Willy. As proof he receives a letter from Skendt in which Willy Carlotta warns against Saltierra. Lemmy gets Carlotta's address from Skendt. When Lemmy leaves the building, he is shot at from a passing car. Before the agent visits the singer, he instructs the hotel porter to call Carlotta at 4 a.m.

In Carlotta's apartment he sends the maid away, shows Carlotta the letter and accuses Saltierra of the murder of her brother. The singer doesn't believe Lemmy. When Saltierra, alarmed by the housemaid, enters the apartment with two henchmen, the latter denies everything. Saltierra's attempt to get rid of Lemmy is prevented by the doorman's phone call, Lemmy pretending to be an accomplice on the phone.

Lemmy learns from GDP that Willy's stepbrother, stockbroker Harley Chase, is urging the police to investigate the murder. Chase, a spiritual believer, has hired a clairvoyant to find the killer based on the names of Willy's acquaintances. GDP smuggled in Lemmy under his false name. Lemmy also learns from his headquarters that the murdered Willy Frame worked for the American Treasury in Casablanca. The séance turns out to be a trap by Saltierra, who saw through Lemmy's true identity. Saltierria admits the murders of the three men and tells his prisoner about the plan to intercept the gold. The agent manages to escape from the ship and notify the police. However, the law enforcement officers can no longer prevent the gold theft.

GDP tries to lure Lemmy into a trap again. He lures the agent into an ambush under a pretext, but is shot himself in the process. Lemmy finds a clue about the whereabouts of the gold in the dead man. Lemmy represents Chase, the original client of the robbery and murders. This reveals to Lemmy the whereabouts of Saltierra, in return Lemmy gives him a revolver in order to judge himself and avoid conviction. Lemmy is already expected and taken by surprise by the crooks. Carlotta is now on Lemmy's side, as her GDP had confirmed Saltierrie's guilt for her brother on the ship. The two refugees shoot Salterrie's henchmen; Saltierra himself falls from a roof in the head with Lemmy's empty revolver. The approaching police ended the event.
