Lynn Wayne Rogers (born September 11, 1958 in Fremont , Nebraska ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ). He has been Lieutenant Governor of the state of Kansas since January 14, 2019 .

Life

Lynn Rogers studied at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and received his Bachelor of Arts there in 1980 . In 1985 Rogers moved to Wichita, Kansas , where he had previously accepted a job with the Farm Credit Bank of Kansas. From 1993, Rogers was Vice President of CoBank Farm Credit Leasing, a position he held until 2016. Lynn Rogers is married with three grown children.

His first political office was a seat on the Wichita City Education Committee, to which he was elected in 2001. At times he was its deputy chairman. In 2016, Rogers was elected to the Kansas Senate for the 25th constituency after the seat became vacant after Republican Michael O'Donnell left. He took office on January 9, 2017. In 2018, Lynn Rogers retired from the Wichita Education Committee. On May 24, 2018, Laura Kelly announced her selection of Rogers as running mate for the November gubernatorial election . In the election on November 6, 2018, they were able to prevail against the Republican candidate Kris Kobach and the independent Greg Orman .

Lynn Rogers stepped down from the Kansas Senate when he took office on January 14, 2019, and was succeeded by Mary Ware.
