The singer Ingrid Raack, who grew up bilingual German- Sorbian in Lusatia, first learned the profession of industrial clerk. At an event, the musical director of the Cottbuser Rundfunk discovered her singing talent and soon produced her first Sorbian songs. That was in the late 1960s. She gained acting and singing experience through participation in a cabaret and in various amateur bands. She then perfected her skills through a degree, which she completed with an exam. At the same time, the first records were made.

She made her first tour in 1972 with Wolfgang Ziegler and Jürgen Walter . The Musikexpress followed with Andreas Holm , Nina Hagen , Thomas Lück and Aurora Lacasa . Then she was on tour with Peter Albert and Achim Mentzel . Guest performances have taken her to Cuba, Yugoslavia, the FRG, Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union.

She was also a permanent guest on the popular GDR television program Oberhofer Bauernmarkt , in which she demonstrated her musical skills with well-known colleagues such as Siegfried Uhlenbrock , Rosemarie Ambé and Herbert Roth . In 1990 she appeared as a singer in the DEFA film Motivsuche in the final scene.

The year 1991 saw the professional turning point. Due to her language culture, she opened up a new area in radio as a presenter, later also on television as a presenter of the daily congratulatory program Glückwunsch-Antenne on ORB-Fernsehen . This also resulted in the possibility of synchronizing films and also speaking “sub-picture”.

With titles such as "Queen of the Night", "The Best of the World" or "Good Bye, Mama" she achieved considerable success. In Christmas and church concerts, she complements her program with classical songs.

Ingrid Raack has been an ambassador for the Potsdam Alliance against Depression since 2009. She also supported the Potsdamer Soup Kitchen with free performances at Christmas.

Ingrid Raack was also known for Sorbian songs during the GDR era. She reported about this in March 2020 as a contemporary witness on the television program Luzyca.
