Initiative Finanzstandort Deutschland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Initiative Finanzstandort Deutschland was a lobby organization without a legal form. The initiative has not been active since 2011, and its traces on the Internet have been erased as far as possible. It consisted of financial service providers , interested associations , the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Bundesbank with the declared aim of "strengthening" Germany as a "financial center".

Purpose and work

The initiative, founded in spring 2003, represented all areas of the German financial industry and saw itself as a working and action group as well as a communication platform. The Federal Ministry of Finance and the Bundesbank were also represented here. The IFD had neither its own administration nor a chairman.

The draft law formulated by it for the Small Business Promotion Act and for the Improvement of Corporate Financing (KFG) resulted in the trade tax exemption for special purpose vehicles from 2003 . This made it possible for the first time to trade in high-risk credit default swaps (CDS). The law was passed unanimously and without parliamentary debate.

By the 2007 financial crisis , the liberalized global trade in CDS paper (between 2001 and 2006) grew from 1 to 50 trillion US dollars.

The "Course Room Money" project aimed to promote the treatment of financial policy issues in school lessons.

In April 2010 she founded the Consumer Protection Working Group , and in 2011 it disbanded.
