International Academy of Jazz Hall of Fame

The International Academy of Jazz Hall of Fame was announced in 1977 to commemorate and honor jazz musicians who have made a special contribution to jazz . It was then the first hall of fame to be set up by a major university. a. by the musician Nathan Davis .

This Hall of Fame has been permanently housed at the University of Pittsburgh since 1984 . Every year new jazz musicians are accepted after a worldwide vote among jazz critics, authors, musicians and composers. The German jazz critic and historian Joachim-Ernst Berendt was a member of this body.
