International Mozart Competition Salzburg
The International Mozart Competition Salzburg is a music competition that has been held in Salzburg since 1975 . Until 2014, the competition was held every three to four years. The competition has been held at the biennial rhythm since 2014 . The Mozart Competition is organized by the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. The categories are singing , piano , violin , horn and string quartet , but these are held alternately in the competition years. The competition has been associated with the Fédération Mondiale des Concours Internationaux de Musique (FMCIM) since 1990 .

First competition (1975)
- Singers: Ann-Marie Connors (1st prize), Bettina Schoeller (3rd prize), Maria Gallamini (competition scholarship )
- Singers: István Gáti (1st prize), Robert Currier Christesen (2nd prize), Ferdinand Silhanek (sponsorship and recognition prize)
- Piano: Diane Walsh (2nd prize), Michel Dalberto (3rd prize) and Andrea Nemecz (3rd prize). No 1st prize was awarded.
Second competition (1978)
- Singers: Elise Galama (1st prize) and Edith Wiens (1st prize)
- Singer: James Wagner (1st prize)
- Violin: Thomas Zehetmair (1st prize)
Third competition (1985)
- Singers: Uwe Heilmann (2nd prize), Shigeru Tachibana (2nd prize), Peter Galliard (sponsorship prize), Robert Hayward (1985, sponsorship prize), Thomas Schulze (recognition prize). A first prize for singers was not awarded.
- Piano: Mariora Trifan (2nd prize), Nikoletta Pantazatou (sponsorship prize), Ulrike Payer (sponsorship prize), Yuka Sakai (sponsorship prize), Nicola Frisardi (prize) and Aleksadar Madzar (1985, prize). No 1st prize was awarded.
- Violin: Marieke Blankestijn (1st prize and prize), Peter Tanfield (sponsorship prize), Sabine Scheffel (prize)
Fourth competition (1988)
- Singers: George Mosley (1st prize), Krzysztof Szmyt (2nd prize), Ralph Eschrig (recognition prize)
- Piano: Sarah Briggs (2nd prize), Tünde Kurucz (2nd prize), Emily White (special prize), Wieland Nordmeyer (sponsorship and recognition prize) and Gabriele Seidel (sponsorship prize). No 1st prize was awarded.
Fifth competition (1990/1991)
- Singers: Victoria Loukianetz (1st Prize), Eva Mei (Caterina Cavalieri Prize)
- Piano: Andrey Pisarev (1st prize), Sergio Ciomei (2nd prize), Tal Weissman (3rd prize), David Buechner (special prize), Andreu Riera (recognition prize)
- Violin: Mikhail Tsinman (2nd prize), Alexander Janiczek (2nd prize), Hanna Weinmeister (3rd prize), Chie Abiko (Felix Unger Prize), Daniel Sepec (sponsorship prize) and Alexander Hohenthal (recognition prize). A 1st prize was not awarded.
Sixth competition (1995)

Eighth competition (2001/2002)
The eighth competition took place in the categories of composition (2001) and voice, piano and violin and was held from January 11th to 26th, 2002.

Ninth competition (2006)
The ninth competition took place only in the singing category and was held from August 7th to 16th, 2006. Prize winners:
- Singers: Elena Xanthoudakis (1st Prize and Madame Fukuda Prize), Bénédicht Tauran (2nd Prize and Audience Prize), Evgenia Grekova (Prize of the International Mozarteum Foundation), Sofia Fomina (Sponsorship Prize), Gabriela Scherer (Material Prize)
- Singers: Arttu Kataja (3rd prize), Daniel Johannsen (special prize for the best Mozart song interpretation), Daniel Schmutzhard (special prize for the best interpretation of contemporary composition). Neither 1st nor 2nd prize was awarded to the singers.
Tenth competition (2011)
The tenth competition took place from February 9th to 19th, 2011 in the categories piano and violin.
- Piano: Federico Colli (1st prize and sponsorship prize from the International Mozarteum Foundation), Ji Hye Jung (2nd prize), Xiaoxi Wu (3rd prize)
- Violin: Sergei Malow (1st prize), Ying Xue (2nd prize), Sarah Christian (3rd prize)
Eleventh competition (2014)
The eleventh competition took place in the singing and string quartet categories and was held from February 5 to 15, 2014.
- String quartet: Novus String Quartet (1st prize), Quatuor Varèse (2nd prize and special prize from the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg), Quatuor Lumière (3rd prize)
- Singing: Matthias Winckhler (1st prize and special prize for the best interpretation of a song by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Siobhán Stagg (2nd prize and special prize for the best interpretation of a song by Richard Strauss), Sophie Rennert (3rd prize)
Twelfth competition (2016)
The twelfth competition took place in the violin category from February 1st to 5th and in the piano category from February 5th to 11th, 2016.
- Violin: 1st prize Ziyu He (China), 2nd prize Thomas Reif (Germany), 3rd prize Benjamin Marquise Gilmore (Netherlands)
- Piano: 1st prize Saskia Giorgini (Netherlands / Italy), 2nd prize Yoonhee Yang (South Korea), 3rd prize Julia Kociuban (Poland)
Thirteenth competition (2018)
The thirteenth competition took place in the singing and string quartet categories and was held from February 2nd to 15th, 2018.
- String quartet: Quatuor Tchalik (France; 1st prize, special prize for the best interpretation of a string quartet by Mozart and the Bärenreiter Urtext Prize), Eliot Quartet (Germany; 2nd prize and Bärenreiter Urtext Prize), Quatuor Akos (France; 3 . Prize and Bärenreiter Urtext Prize)
- Singing: Anna El-Khashem (Russia; 1st prize and special prize for the best interpretation of a vocal work by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Peter Kellner (Slovakia; 2nd prize and audience prize), Mojca Bitenc (Slovenia; 3rd prize)
Fourteenth competition (2020)
The fourteenth competition will take place in the categories violin, piano and horn from February 1st to 15th, 2020.
