Cornelia Herrmann (* 1977 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian pianist .

Life

Cornelia Herrmann comes from a family of musicians in Salzburg.

At the age of eight she was accepted into Anton Czjzek's class at the Mozarteum University . She later studied with Imre Rohmann in Salzburg and Noel Flores at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

She received regular lessons from Ferenc Rados in Budapest and other important artistic impulses from Alexander Lonquich , Murray Perahia , András Schiff and Alfred Brendel .

In 1996, Cornelia Herrmann was the youngest finalist and winner of the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig and in 1999 she was a special prize winner of the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg.

In 2002 she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival and in 2003 performed Mozart 's recitative and rondo “Ch'io mi scordi di te?” For soprano with obbligato piano and orchestra KV 505 with Elīna Garanča , Marcello Viotti and the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra .

Projects

She designed numerous "Word and Sound" projects with Cornelia Froboess ( George Sand & Frédéric Chopin , Heinrich Heine & Robert Schumann ) and Peter Simonischek ( Thomas Bernhard : 'My Prices', Cécile and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy ).

In May 2014, Cornelia Herrmann started her own chamber music festival 'Musiktage Hundsmarktmühle' at Fuschlsee in Salzburg. The chamber music concerts take place in the hayloft of the Hundsmarktmühle, which dates back to the 16th century. The music days now take place at the end of June.
