Inventory of the Hessian cultural monuments

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The inventory of the Hessian cultural monuments took place in several series since the 19th century.

The inventory of Hessian cultural monuments for the province of Hessen-Nassau and the Grand Duchy of Hessen goes back to the late 19th century . After the establishment of the German Reich , the inventory was given a different status: “The creation of a well-founded, public and calculable inventory made it possible, on the one hand, to research and preserve the monuments, and was therefore necessary for the administrative and legal effects of monument protection and for state intervention in general . “The Endowment Act of 1875 gave a special impetus. Hessen-Darmstadt began in 1872 with an inventory.

Albrecht Meydenbauer made a name for himself in the inventory through photogrammetry .

As a successor, the new art topographical book series Monument Topography of the Federal Republic of Germany - Cultural Monuments in Hesse was published by the State Office for Monument Preservation Hesse from 1982 . It takes place within the series of monuments topography of the Federal Republic of Germany . It currently covers around two thirds of the State of Hesse.
