Iphöfer Burgweg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Iphöfer Burgweg is a large location in the Franconian wine-growing region . It covers the vineyards around the town of Iphofen in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen and is part of the Schwanberger Land and Weinparadies areas.

Geographical location and geology

The vineyards of the Iphöfer Burgweg site are in the south of the Schwanberg along the Steigerwald climb. The center of the large location is the city of Iphofen, which is surrounded by three individual layers. From the wine town, the vineyards stretch to the east, mostly following the Steigerwald mountains. Parts of the Markt Einersheimer Vogelsang location are in the Schloßbergsattel nature reserve near Markt Einersheim . A little further to the south are the Willanzheim vineyards. Originally the sites of the large site belonged to the Steigerwald area , since 2017 they have been part of the newly created areas Schwanberger Land and Weinparadies .

Overall, the large site occupies an area of around 320 ha (1993), making it one of the larger large sites in the Franconian cultivation area. In terms of nature, the vineyards belong to the Steigerwald and its foreland . Most of the locations thrive in the area of the Schwanberg foreland with its gentle ascent to the Steigerwald. Only the southern vineyards are in the flat Hellmitzheim Bay . The floors of the major site do not reflect the natural spatial differentiation: All documents have Keuper soils with high gypsum content .

Origin of name

Similar to the greater Rödelseer Schloßberg located further to the west, the Iphöfer Burgweg refers to the castle or palace complex on the Schwanberg, which can be reached via a staircase. The Schwanberg was already settled in prehistoric and early historical times and remained an important cult and center point during the Franconian colonization. The Burgweg was still an independent vineyard with 95 hectares in 1975/76.

Vineyards

The list of vineyards is based on a list of all Bavarian vineyards, which was published by the government of Lower Franconia . It is arranged alphabetically. The markings on which the vineyards are located are noted in the second column. The areas of the vineyards are also listed. The nature of the soil and the predominant composition of the soil can be seen in the Geology column . Notes contain important historical key points on the individual locations.

The Iphöfer Burgweg comprises a total of six individual layers. Several of them extend over several districts , whereby the grapevine species often concentrate on one district (examples: Markt Einersheimer Vogelsang, Possenheimer Vogelsang). However, the vineyards can be assigned much more clearly than the major locations. The geographic coordinate refers to the largest part of the respective location. Parts of the Iphöfer Julius-Echter-Berg site also belong to the Rödelseer Schloßberg large site. A special feature is the nameless vineyard around Willanzheim, which, unlike all other locations in the large area, belongs to the Weinparadies area and not to the Schwanberger Land area.
