Isabelle Mir (born March 2, 1949 in Saint-Lary-Soulan , Hautes-Pyrénées ) is a former French ski racer .

biography

Mirabelle , as it was very often called, won at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble in the downhill silver medal behind the Austrian Olga Pall . In slalom she finished fifth in the giant slalom sixth. At the World Ski Championships in 1970 in Val Gardena she won another silver medal in the downhill, this time behind the Swiss Annerösli Zryd . At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , she narrowly missed the medals and finished fourth.

She was also successful in the Ski World Cup . In 1968 she won the Downhill World Cup, even if she had to share this success with Olga Pall with the same number of points. In 1970 she was able to repeat her success, this time well ahead of Annie Famose . In total, she won nine World Cup races (eight downhill runs and one giant slalom ). From 1967 to 1972 she was French champion ten times (4 × combination, 3 × downhill, 2 × giant slalom and 1 × slalom). On January 31, 1970 she won the slalom in Grindelwald, with which she was also second in the combination (these two results did not count towards the World Cup). In January 1973 she ended her sports career.
