Isidro Cardinal Gomá y Tomás (born August 19, 1869 in La Riba , Spain , † August 22, 1940 in Toledo ) was Archbishop of Toledo .

Life

Isidro Goma y Tomas studied in Tarragona and Valencia the subjects philosophy and Catholic theology . He received the sacrament of ordination on June 8, 1895 and then worked as a parish priest for two years. From 1897 he worked in Tarragona in the training of priests. In 1907 he became a canon at the Cathedral of Tarragona, and in 1908 he became an official of the Archdiocese .

In 1927 Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Tarazona . The episcopal ordination received Isidro Gomá Tomás by the archbishop of Tarragona , Francisco de Asís Cardinal Vidal y Barraquer , co-consecrators were Valentín Comellas y Santa María , Apostolic Administrator of Solsona and Manuel Irurita y Almandoz , Bishop of Lerida . From December 1927 to June 1933, Isidro Gomá y Tomás administered the diocese of Tudela at the same time as Apostolic Administrator . On April 12, 1933, Pope Pius XI appointed him. to the Archbishop of Toledo and took him on December 16, 1935 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Pietro in Montorio in the College of Cardinals . During the Spanish Civil War , Isidro Gomá y Tomás strongly supported the national movement. He took part in the 1939 conclave .

Isidro Cardinal Gomá y Tomás died on August 22, 1940 in Toledo and was buried in the cathedral there.
