Israel Shamir (English spelling Israel Shamir ), other names: Jöran Jermas , Adam Ermash , Robert David (born June 11, 1947 in Novosibirsk ) is a Russian-Israeli writer and journalist with main residence in Sweden , who is part of the right-wing extremist scene and circle of Holocaust deniers is assigned.

Life

According to his own statements, Shamir emigrated to Israel in 1969 . As a soldier in a paratrooper unit, he fought for Israel in the 1973 Yom Kippur War . He translated talmudic texts, James Joyce , Homer and other classics into Russian. He worked for the state radio Kol Israel and wrote for newspapers in Israel, Russia and Japan, several times under the pseudonym Robert David . 1984 to 1993 he was registered in Sweden as Jöran Jermas , since 1998 and stays in Israel and Russia he has lived there again. Political views and publications

Shamir advocates the one-state solution in Palestine under the motto “One Man, One Vote, One State” (in German about “One citizen, one vote, one state”). He has been criticized for his anti-Semitic statements, including denial of the Holocaust. Among other things, he blames the Jews for the Second World War and the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 . As part of his journalistic activities, Shamir also wrote for the highly anti-Semitic Russian magazine “ Sawtra ” and the right-wing extremist American “ Vanguard News Network ”.

In spring 2005 the German translation of his book “The Flowers of Galilee” (German title: “Flowers from Galilee”) was published by Promedia Verlag in Vienna . Among other things, he is accused of spreading lies and half-truths about Israel. According to a report by the British magazine " Searchlight Magazine " in May 2004 are many-Israel Shamir and his Norwegian translator Hans Olav Brend Mountain to the extreme right and konspirationistischen circles, so among other things the German College of Horst Mahler .

Relationship with WikiLeaks

According to Daniel Domscheit-Berg (as of 2011), Schamir and his Swedish son Johannes Wahlström are document keepers (“gatekeepers”) at WikiLeaks . Shamir is responsible for the selection and distribution of information to Russian media and his son to the Swedish media. You have been in contact with WikiLeaks for several years. Previously (on February 8, 2011) Assange had expressed benevolence in a French-language interview about Shamir and compared the hatred of him with that of Salman Rushdie .

Thousands of internal WikiLeaks documents were published in September 2018. This includes emails, chat logs, financial documents, and video material. The leak also contains a letter from Julian Assange to the Russian Embassy in London on November 30, 2010. In it, the WikiLeak founder writes: “I, Julian Assange, hereby grant my friend, Israel Shamir, the authority to hand in and collect my passport to get a visa. ”When asked if he had organized a Russian visa for Assange, Shamir replied that he had problems with his memory but could not rule it out. In 2011, in an interview with a Moscow radio station, he said he had personally negotiated a Russian visa for Assange.
