Ivan Cornelius Elliott Jr. (born November 3, 1986 in San Francisco , California ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Elliott began a career as a professional player in Europe with Valmiera in Latvia . He then played for various teams in Germany from 2009 , interrupted only by two years in the Italian Serie A2 from 2013 to 2015.

Career

Elliott, who is used in the position of the power forward, attended Wallenberg High School in his hometown of San Francisco until 2004, where he played basketball and the baseball team. He then went to the Community College West Valley College in Saratoga , California and achieved an average of 13.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in their college basketball team for the second year in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). In the 2006/2007 season, Elliott moved to the University of California, Santa Barbara , where he played in the NCAA and quickly became an important factor on the team. With a total of 66 offensive rebounds, he even set the best value for his team this season. In his senior year, he also achieved a three-point rate of 44.8%.

After a total of two years in the NCAA, Elliott turned professional in 2008 and went to Europe, where he received a contract with SK Valmiera in Latvia, which competed in both the Latvian basketball league LBL and the elite division of the Baltic Basketball League . For the 2009/2010 season he signed a one-year contract in the basketball league with Mitteldeutscher BC from Weißenfels , with which he reached 10th place at the end of the season and thus barely missed the play-offs . For the 2010/2011 season he moved to the Eisbären from Bremerhaven in the top German division . After just four weeks, however, the club made use of its opportunity to terminate the contract before the start of the season. Eliott then joined the second division s.Oliver Baskets from Würzburg , who extended his fixed-term contract and rose with him from the ProA to the basketball Bundesliga. Under the new coach John Patrick Eliott was one of the few players who were allowed to remain in the promoted squad in the first division season 2011/12 . At the end of the season you reached the play-offs for the German championship, in which you were eliminated in the semi-final series.

Eliott finally left the s.Oliver Baskets and switched to the Neckar Giants from Ludwigsburg for the 2012/13 season. There he received a contract for one season with an option for another year. As penultimate in the table, they were relegated in terms of sport and could only secure relegation by purchasing a “ wild card ”. After a change of coach, John Patrick became his coach again, but he did not use the option for another season. For the 2013/14 season, Elliott finally joined the Italian third division club Torrevento BNB from Corato within the Divisione Nazionale A (DNA) silver, but at the end of the season they stopped playing in fourth from last place for the time being. Elliott moved practically one division higher for the following season, when the two divisions of the DNA were initially grouped together hierarchically in the A2 series . With Aurora Basket Fileni from Jesi , however, he only reached the 13th and fourth from bottom place in the table at the end of the season.

For the Basketball Bundesliga 2015/16 Elliott returned to Germany and played in the top division for Phoenix from Hagen , which at the end of the season only finished 13th after deducting points due to license violations. Before the following season, Elliott signed another contract with the even worse placed Eisbären Bremerhaven.

In the 2016/17 season, Elliott was on the field in a polar bear shirt in 32 Bundesliga games and averaged 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per match. After the 2017/18 season, in which he had averaged 7.0 points and 4.4 rebounds in 33 Bundesliga games, he left Bremerhaven and switched to the second division Chemnitz during the summer break . He was used in 22 second division games in the 19/20 season and scored an average of 9.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per encounter. He was at the top of the table with Chemnitz when the season was canceled in mid-March 2020 due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus .
