Ivan Kelava (born February 20, 1988 in Zagreb , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian football player . He has been under contract with FC Granada since 2015 .

Player career

society

Ivan Kelava began his football career at the Croatian top club Dinamo Zagreb . At the age of 18, he moved into the professional squad of Dinamo. In his first professional season he only came on one mission. In the following season, Kelava was used seven times.

At the beginning of the 2008/09 season, the previous goalkeeper Georg Koch suffered a hearing trauma. From now on Kelava fought with the experienced Tomislav Butina for the place in the goal. Due to minor injuries Butina came to a total of ten appearances in the Croatian league . In the 2nd round of qualifying for the Champions League against NK Domzale , he made his first game on the international stage and was also on the field in the following round when he was eliminated against Shakhtar Donetsk . Three more appearances in the UEFA Cup followed . For the 2009/10 season Kelava was loaned to NK Lokomotiva Zagreb in order to collect more match practice. At local rivals Dinamos, he developed into a goalkeeper and showed strong performances. He stayed with Lokomotiva until the end of August 2010. In September Kelava returned to Dinamo Zagreb and became number one in goal. He played all league games. Dinamo also played three times to zero with Kelava in the six appearances in the Europa League , but this could not prevent the elimination in the group stage.

Also in the following seasons Kelava was number one in the goal of Dinamo.

In the summer of 2013, his move to FC Granada was already certain. Those responsible for both clubs had already reached an agreement in principle. The player also assumed that he would move to Granada. However, the move failed for unknown reasons. A few days later, the Italian first division club, Udinese Calcio , announced the signing of Kelava. There he immediately replaced the actual number one, Željko Brkić , who was out for several months due to an injury.

National team

Ivan Kelava has played regularly for Croatian junior national teams since 2004. In 2006/07 he played his first two games for the Croatian U-19 team against Austria and Greece. On February 11, 2009 he ran for the U-21 for the first time in a 2-1 friendly match against Macedonia . In the further course of the year Kelava became number one and completed all qualifying games for the U-21 European Championship. In total, he came to nine appearances for the Croatian U-21s in 2009/10. In October 2010 he missed the play-off with his home country against Spain (1: 2; 0: 3) to participate in the finals of the Euro 2011. Kelava was in the squad of the Croatian national soccer team for the European soccer championship 2012 .
