Ivana Iozzia (born February 18, 1973 in Como ) is an Italian marathon runner .

Career

The volleyball player switched to running after winning a place at the New York City Marathon in a raffle held by her company in 2000, where she finished 21st in 2:48:29 h. A year later she came in 28th place there. In 2002 she came third in the Maratona di Sant'Antonio and won the Stuttgart run and the half marathon of the Ticino Marathon .

In 2003, when she was twelfth in the Berlin Marathon , she improved by almost ten minutes to 2:35:39 h. In 2004 she won the Reggio Emilia Marathon and finished 30th at the World Half Marathon Championships in New Delhi . The following year she was the overall winner of the Maratona di Sant'Antonio Italian champion, came 37th at the World Half Marathon Championships in Edmonton and came second in the Florence Marathon .

In 2006 she finished second at the Maratona di Sant'Antonio, finished 35th at the World Road Running Championships and came second at the Venice Marathon . In 2007 she was again national champion , finishing eighth overall at the Rome Marathon , and was third in Venice. On the Maratona d'Italia route, which was not suitable for the best list because of its gradient , she was third in 2008 in 2:34:07 h. Six weeks later, she finished fourth in the Milan Marathon .

In 2009 she finished fifth at the Maratona di Sant'Antonio, came 43rd at the World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham and won in Reggio Emilia, the Garda Trentino Half Marathon and the Marengo Marathon. In 2010 she was eleventh in Berlin.

In 2012 she won the Maratona d'Italia in 2:35:08 h.

In October 2016 she won the marathon of the 3 countries on Lake Constance .

Ivana Iozzia is 1.63 m tall and weighs 50 kg. She is trained by Eugenio Frangi and starts for the ASD Calcestruzzi Corradini. The part-time worker in a textile factory lives in Lurate Caccivio .
