József Adorján (born March 7, 1975 in Miercurea Ciuc ) is a former Romanian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract at CSM Dunărea Galați in the Romanian ice hockey league.

Career

Club

József Adorján, who belongs to the Hungarian-speaking Szekler minority in Romania, began his career as a hockey player at SC Miercurea Ciuc , the traditional Szekler club in his hometown, with which he first became Romanian national champion in 2000 and won the national cup competition a year later . In 2002 he moved to the capital club Dinamo Bucharest for a year . He then changed clubs in quick succession, always returning to his home club in Miercurea Ciuc , with which he was again national champion in 2004, 2007 and 2008 and also cup winners in 2003 and 2007. He was also able to celebrate the championship and cup victory with Steaua Bucharest , for whom he was on the ice in the 2004/05 season. With HC Csíkszereda , also from Miercurea Ciuc, he was able to win the first edition of the multinational MOL league in 2009 . From 2009 to 2012 he played three years for the ASC Corona 2010 Brașov, mainly in the MOL league, before moving back to his home club, which as HSC Csíkszereda had now adopted the Hungarian name of his hometown. With this he was able to become Romanian champion again in 2013 and cup winner in 2014. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he played for CSM Dunărea Galați in the Romanian ice hockey league before ending his career.

International

Adorján was already active in the junior division for Romania at international tournaments. He played in the 1991 , 1992 and 1993 U18 B European Championships when he was voted the tournament's best defender, as well as the 1993 and 1994 U20 B World Championships and the 1995 U20 C1 World Cup .

He made his debut in the men's national team at the 2000 World Cup . After switching to the current division system, Adorján played in Division II in 2001 , 2008 , 2010 and 2011. In Division I, he played with Romania in 2002 and 2003 . He also played for Romania in November 2004 in qualifying for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
