Jörg Wagner (2008)

Jörg Wagner (born June 27, 1969 in Kassel ) is a German business economist . He has been a professor of business administration since 2000 and first rector and later president of the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences since 2004 .

Live and act

Wagner graduated from high school in Marburg in 1989 . He then studied business administration at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen with a focus on corporate management, human resources, business informatics and operations research . In 1994 he completed his studies with a degree in business administration . After completing his studies, he worked for Dresdner Bank AG in Frankfurt am Main until 1998 in the areas of bank calculation and controlling, and from 1996 he was team leader. During this time he completed his doctoral studies at the University of St. Gallen in parallel to his professional activity . In 1998 he received his PhD. rer. oec with his dissertation on "New potentials for risk management of derivative financial products through integrated information and communication". After completing his doctorate, he moved to Heyde AG - Management Consulting in Bad Nauheim as a division manager, before he was appointed professor for general business administration, in particular business informatics, at the Nordhausen University in 2000. From 2001 to 2003 he was the Dean of Studies for the Business Administration course. During this time he was u. a. Involved in the development and conception of the new public management course . From 2003 he was Dean of the Department of Economics and Social Sciences until he was elected Rector of the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences in 2004. The then 35-year-old was the youngest rector in Thuringia and took over the office of Christian C. Juckenack , who had headed the university since 2001 and had left the function due to his appointment as State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Conservation and the Environment. He has been president of the university since 2008. He lives in Nordhausen .

Presidency at Nordhausen University

By winning the “Excellence strategies for small and medium-sized universities” program from the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft) and being certified as a “family-friendly university” by the Hertie Foundation , the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, under Wagner's leadership, was also able to gain national importance.

In addition to his work for the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, Wagner volunteers at the Jugendsozialwerk Nordhausen e. V., where he has been Chairman of the Management Board since the beginning of 2013 and Chairman of the Supervisory Board since the end of 2013.
