Jörg von Halspach
Jörg von Halspach (* before 1441 presumably in Halsbach near Altötting ; † October 6, 1488 in Munich ), also known as Halsbach , Ganghofer or 'Jörg von Polling' , was a Munich builder and architect of the late Gothic period .

Jörg von Halsbach probably received his training in Braunau or Wasserburg am Inn , where a good tradition of late Gothic architecture prevailed. In 1441 it was first recorded during renovation work on the choir of the monastery church in Ettal . He was also involved in the parish church in Polling , which was completed in 1450 .
His main work is the Frauenkirche in Munich, which was built between 1468 and 1494. For their vaulting , he had traveled to Ulm and Augsburg , where he studied the Ulrich Church and the cathedral . In 1470 he began in Munich with renovation work on the old town hall in the late Gothic style, in 1478 with the All Saints Church on the Cross (Kreuzkirche) . Between 1479 and 1484 he was used to build the tower of the church in Hall in Tirol . In addition, he was u. a. active for the Freising Prince-Bishops. When he died in 1488, the Munich Cathedral was essentially complete, but the two "Welschen" domes - modeled on Italian Renaissance domes - were not added until almost four decades later. They were shown for the first time in a city view from 1524. Master Jörg is buried under the northern tower.
