Jörgen Eriksson (born March 26, 1971 in Bollnäs ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who has spent six seasons in the Elitserien and one in the German ice hockey league . His younger brother Anders Eriksson played for many years in the National Hockey League and won the Stanley Cup there in 1998 with the Detroit Red Wings .

Career

Jörgen Eriksson started his career at MODO Hockey at the age of 18 . In his debut season he was used in both the Elitserien and the Allsvenskan . He then spent the next three years entirely in Sweden's top division. In 1993 the defender moved to IF Björklöven , where he was also used in the second team.

Eriksson, who was considered a defensive specialist and rarely went on the offensive, could not establish himself in the Elitserien and therefore signed with Timrå IK . Here he was one of the most consistent defenders for the next seven years and rose with his team after the successful 1999/00 season in the Elitserien. In previous seasons, the promotion was just missed. Eriksson also stayed in the team for the 2000/01 season and managed to stay with Timrå. He then signed a contract in the Italian Serie A with SHC Fassa . In 2002 the Swede joined the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League . With the Roosters, he just missed the playoffs and then went back to Italy. His last station was then Kovlands IF , where Eriksson was active for two years. Then he ended his career.
