Jürgen Rumrich (born March 20, 1968 in Miesbach ) is a former German ice hockey player and today's trainer and functionary. Most recently he was the sporting director of the Schwenninger Wild Wings .
Career as a player
After his time as a junior player at TEV Miesbach and SB Rosenheim , Rumrich began his professional career in the 1986/87 season in the 2nd Bundesliga at EHC Freiburg . In his second season, the Freiburg made the promotion. From the 1990/91 season he belonged to the team of the BSC Preussen and Berlin Capitals and played in the capital for eight years. For the 1998/99 season he joined the Kassel Huskies , whose captain he was until his departure. From the 2000/01 season he played for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . He ended his career in the 2004/05 season with the Hamburg Freezers in the DEL .
Internationally, Rumrich already played in the youth field for the German national team . He made his debut for the senior national team in 1992. He took part in the 1992 , 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics. He played 182 times for Germany, scoring 27 goals and getting 20 assists. This makes him the tenth player with the most stakes.
His older brother Michael was also an ice hockey player and sometimes played with him in Freiburg, Berlin and in the national team.
Career as a coach
After he was responsible for the youth work at SC Riessersee and at the same time coached the junior team in the DNL , he switched to the Straubing Tigers in the DEL for the 2007/08 season . There he worked as an assistant trainer under Erich Kühnhackl , from November 2007 under Bob Manno . In the 2008/09 season he was also the team manager. In March 2009 he succeeded Manno as head coach of the Straubing Tigers. There he was released in late January 2011 after the team suffered the sixth consecutive defeat under his leadership.
From October 2011 to March 2012 he was the head coach at Schwenninger Wild Wings . Then he was the managing director of the second division club Landshut Cannibals until the end of the 2012/13 season and thus successor to the outgoing managing director Bernd Truntschka .
From December 2013 Jürgen Rumrich was head coach of the Kassel Huskies in the Oberliga West . With this he trained the club for which he was already active as a player. He led the huskies to advance to the DEL2 . Rumrich did not receive a new contract after the season.
Between February 2015 and March 2020 he was the sporting director of the Schwenninger Wild Wings .
