Jürgen Schreiber (journalist)

Jürgen Schreiber (born January 30, 1947 in Heilbronn ) is a German reporter and investigative journalist .

life and work

Schreiber has been a reporter for over 30 years. During this time he mainly worked for the Stuttgarter Zeitung and the Frankfurter Rundschau . He was also represented as an author several times in the magazines GEO , Sports , Merian and Zeit-Magazin . In addition, he was one of the founding members of the now discontinued weekly newspaper Die Woche . As a reporter, he was also part of the SZ magazine . He has been working for the Berliner Tagesspiegel since 1999 and was its chief reporter from 2001 to 2007. In connection with the Gäfgen case , he uncovered the threat of torture against the then accused Magnus Gäfgen .

In 2005 Schreiber published the book Ein Maler aus Deutschland , which uncovered the family drama of the internationally known German painter Gerhard Richter . Schreiber revealed that Richter's aunt Marianne Schönfelder, painted in a famous portrait of Tante Marianne, was not only killed by Nazi doctors, but that his own father-in-law, Prof. Dr. Heinrich Eufinger , (without the knowledge of Gerhard Richter), as Obersturmbannführer of the SS, played a decisive role in the sterilization of the mentally handicapped.

A book about the years together with Joschka Fischer in Frankfurt was published at the beginning of September 2007. His 2009 book about Monika Ertl received mixed reviews.
