The Nishi-Nihon ryokaku tetsudō KK ( Japanese 西 日本 旅客 鉄 道 株式会社 , German about " West Japan Passenger Railway Corporation"; English West Japan Railway Company ; short: JR 西 日本 , JR Nishi-Nihon , English JR West ) listed in the Nikkei 225 , is one of the seven successors of the Japanese National Railways , which was privatized in 1987 and collectively referred to as the JR [Group] ( jeiāru [gurūpu] , English Japan Railways ).

The company's largest shareholder is The Master Trust Bank of Japan with 3.98 percent .

history

JR West was founded on April 1, 1987 after the Japanese State Railway Company was privatized and split up.

2005, there were on the Fukuchiyama Line for railway accident in Amagasaki , as there derailed a local train. 107 people died in the accident, including the driver.

Lines

Mainly the Kansai and the Chūgoku regions are supplied, as well as a few peripheral areas of the prefectures Niigata , Nagano , Shiga , Mie , Wakayama , Okayama , Yamaguchi and Fukuoka .
