Jadwiga Kotnowska

Jadwiga Kotnowska (born August 18, 1957 in Warsaw ) is a Polish flutist.

Kotnowska began her musical training at the age of ten and played the flute, violin and piano for eight years. She studied at the Warsaw Academy of Music in the flute class of Elżbieta Dastych-Szwarc and also took lessons with Aurèle Nicolet in Switzerland and with Alain Marion and Jean-Pierre Rampal in France .

She has won several international music competitions, including first prize at the International Flute Competition in Formia and, in 1983, the gold medal and the Grand Prize at the Festival of Young Soloists in Bordeaux. Her repertoire includes solo works, chamber music and orchestral works from the Baroque period to the present. Among other things, she played the Polish premieres of Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto pastorale and the flute concertos by Carl Nielsen , Hisatada Otaki and Aleksander Szczetyński as well as compositions by Elżbieta Sikoras , Joanna Bruzdowicz ', Konstanty Regameys , Toshio Hosokawas and John Taveners . She performed the Concerto-Cantata Henryk Mikołaj Góreckis under the direction of Antoni Witt and the Flute Concerto Krzysztof Pendereckis under the direction of Wojciech Rajski and the composer. Krzesimir Dębski , Włodek Pawlik , Robert Kurdybacha , Maciej Małecki , Jerzy Maksymiuk , Marta Ptaszyńska , Piotr Wróbel and Dariusz Przybylski composed works for them.

As a soloist she has appeared with leading Polish orchestras under the direction of conductors such as Jerzy Maksymiuk , Karol Teutsch , Wojciech Rajski , Wojciech Michniewski , Agnieszka Duczmal , Jan Krenz , Tadeusz Strugała , Marek Mos and Jan Stanienda and has made guest appearances in almost all European countries the US, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria. She worked with the chamber ensemble of Ivan Monighetti , the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon under the direction of Claudio Scimone and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders in Antwerp.

Her chamber music partners include the guitarist Waldemar Gromolak that harpists Anna Sikorzak-Olek and Małgorzata Komorowska , the pianist Nigel Clayton , Timothy Carey , Mariusz Rutkowski , Maciej Grzybowski and Marek Mizera and the jazz musicians Andrzej Jagodziński , Sławomir Kulpowicz , Włodek Pawlik , Krzysztof Herdzin and Vitold Rek . In 2000 she led a master class at the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz. She has given further master classes in the United States, Malaysia, Finland, France and the Royal College of Music in London.
