Maciej Małecki

Maciej Małecki (born November 27, 1940 in Warsaw ) is a Polish composer and pianist and music teacher . He is the creator of instrumental , entertainment , theater , radio and film music and not the Polish politician Maciej Małecki (who was also born in Warsaw in 1974) .

Life

Małecki studied composition with Kazimierz Sikorski and piano with Natalia Hornowska at the Warsaw Music Academy (1965 artistic diploma with distinction) and continued his musical education from 1967 to 1968 at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester ( USA ) with Samuel Adler and Eugene List . After his studies he gave concerts in Germany and abroad (including in Great Britain and the GDR ) in a piano duo with Jerzy Derfel .

In the 1970s he composed music for the stage, for radio and television, and film music. During the 1980s he was mainly concerned with concert music. In 1993 he was elected chairman of the Polish Composers' Union and held this position for three years.

Małecki is married to the actress Anna Seniuk . He has three children with her: Grzegorz Małecki and Magdalena Małecka .

  • 1989: Złoty mikrofon (Golden Microphone) music review award from Polskie Radio
  • 1996: Award at the composition competition of the III. Ogólnopolski Festiwal Kolęd i Pastorałek in Będzin for his Christmas pastoral Niemowlątko na słomie for mixed choir
  • 2003: Prize for his radio music Nie-Boska Symfonia (2002) at the “Dwa Teatry” festival in Sopot
