Jakob Raitz from Frentz

Jakob Franz Hubert Freiherr Raitz von Frentz (born May 30, 1826 in Cologne , † September 26, 1884 in Koblenz ) was a Prussian civil servant and politician.

Life and career

Raitz von Frentz attended grammar school in Düsseldorf from 1836 to 1840 and then entered military service from 1840 to 1844. After studying law , he was an officer again until 1854. In 1855 he switched to civil service and was a chamberlain from that year . Between 1856 and 1859 he was senior bailiff in Sigmaringen . After that he was district administrator of the district of Koblenz until 1884 and also police director of Koblenz in 1863 .

As early as the 1850s in Koblenz he belonged to the narrow circle around the future Empress Augusta .

Raitz von Frentz was a member of the Rhenish provincial parliament and was marshal of the state parliament between 1872 and 1874 . He was also the castle captain of Stolzenfels. Between 1867 and 1869 he was a member of the free conservative parliamentary group in the Prussian House of Representatives . In 1867 he was also elected to the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation .

Jakob Raitz von Frentz was a son of the Düsseldorf District Administrator Emmerich Raitz von Frentz (1803–1874). His first marriage was to Amalie von Heister on October 28, 1852 (* March 5, 1828 in Düsseldorf; † April 24, 1853 in Venice ), then his second marriage on July 27, 1854 to Erwine Freiin von Maercken zu Geerath (* 30 April 1853 ). April 1832 in Hilden ; † April 17, 1909 in Siegburg ). The second marriage had seven children.
