Jakub Wanacki (born March 12, 1991 in Opole ) is a Polish ice hockey player who has been under contract with GKS Katowice in the Ekstraliga since 2017 .

Career

Jakub Wanacki started his career in the youth department of Orlik Opole . As a 15-year-old he played for his club in the I league , the second highest division in Poland. From 2008 to 2010, in addition to his stints in his home club in Opole, he also played for the team of the youth academy of the Polish ice hockey association in Sosnowiec, which was also active in the I league. In 2010 he moved to the Ekstraliga for GKS Tychy , for which he was active for five years. With the team from the Silesian mining town, he was Polish runner-up in 2011 and 2014. In 2015 he had the big hit with his club and won the double from the Polish championship and cup victory with him . He then moved to the French Division 1 , the second highest division in the country, where he played at Anglet Hormadi Elite . But he returned to Poland in 2016 and, after a year with Polonia Bytom, has been playing for GKS Katowice in the Ekstraliga since 2017 .

International

For Poland , Wanacki took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2008 and 2009 , when he scored the most scorer points for a defensive player, as well as in the U20 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2010 and Division II in 2011 , when he was his captain Team was not only voted the best defender of the tournament, but also achieved the most goals and assists and thus also the most scorer points of a defensive player.

In the senior division, he was part of the Poles' squad for the first time at the 2014 World Cup , when he and his team were promoted from Group B to Group A in Division I. There he was on the ice in 2015 , 2017 and 2018 .
