James Graham (born September 10, 1985 in Maghull , Merseyside ) is an English rugby league player. He plays for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL .
Career
St Helens
Graham initially played at St Helens as a junior player, making his Super League debut in August 2003 against the Castleford Tigers .
In 2006 he won the Super League Grand Final against Hull FC and the Challenge Cup final against the Huddersfield Giants with St Helens and took part with Great Britain in a friendly against New Zealand , in which he put a try. The following year he won the World Club Challenge against the Brisbane Broncos with St Helens , was part of the starting line-up in 27 games and was voted "Saints' Young Player of the Year". He signed a contract until 2011.
In 2008 he was elected to the Super League Dream Team, won the Man of Steel Award and was voted "prop of the year" by the Rugby League Writers. After the end of the Super League season, he took part in the Rugby League World Cup with England . His debut was against Papua New Guinea. In 2009 he was again voted "prop of the year" by Rugby League World magazine.
In 2010 he took part with England in a friendly against France and in the Four Nations. Since Adrian Morley was injured, he replaced him as captain.
The 2011 Super League season was Graham's final season at St Helens as a lot of NRL clubs showed interest in him, most notably the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the Parramatta Eels . On April 27, 2011 it was finally clear that he would switch to the Bulldogs after the end of the 2011 season.
Canterbury-Bankstown
In his first season with the Bulldogs, he took part in 26 games and managed to get into the NRL Grand Final with them, where they were defeated by the Melbourne Storm . During the Grand Finals, he bit the Melbourne goalkeeper Billy Slater in the ear, after which he was suspended for 12 games.
In 2014 the Bulldogs made it to the Grand Final again. Since Michael Ennis , the captain of the Bulldogs, was unable to attend due to a foot injury, Graham and his teammate Trent Hodkinson were the captains in the game. This time the Bulldogs were defeated by the South Sydney Rabbitohs .
At the start of the 2015 season, it was announced that Graham would become the Bulldogs' new captain.
