Jamie Peacock MBE (born December 14, 1977 in Leeds ) is a former English rugby league player. He played in the Super League for the Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos , and began his career with the second division club Featherstone Rovers . With the Bulls he won the Super League three times, the Challenge Cup twice and the World Club Challenge twice . With the Rhinos he won the Super League six times, the Challenge Cup twice and the World Club Challenge twice.

He also won numerous awards individually, he won the Man of Steel Award in 2003 and was elected to the Super League Dream Team eleven times , more often than any other player.

Career

Peacock's career began at Stanningley RLFC, a club near Leeds that works with the Bradford Bulls. Before joining the Bulls, he was loaned out to the Featherstone Rovers for a month, attempting four games and sending him to Australia to gain experience. In Australia he played rugby for the University of Wollongong .

Bradford Bulls

In 1999 Peacock made his debut for the Bradford Bulls . During the season he completed 18 games, two of them as part of the starting lineup, in which he put six attempts.

In 2000 he had his final breakthrough when he won the Challenge Cup with Bradford and took part in the Rugby League World Cup with England . He played four games for England during the World Cup, in which he made six attempts, including a hat-trick against Fiji .

In 2001 he won the Super League with Bradford and played for England in a friendly against Wales . He also made his debut for Great Britain during a game against Australia , in which he put a try after just 86 seconds.

In 2002 he won the World Club Challenge with Bradford against the NRL champions Newcastle Knights . He completed a total of 30 games for Bradford and made it with them again in the Super League Grand Final, which they lost 18:19 against St Helens .

In 2003 he won the Super League and the Challenge Cup again with Bradford. He has also won numerous individual awards such as the Man of Steel Award, the Super League Player of the Year Award and the Rugby League Writers' Association Player of the Year Award.

After winning the Super League in 2003, the Bulls faced NRL champion Penrith Panthers in the World Club Challenge . Peacock was Bradford's captain in the game, which Bradford won 22-4. Later in the season he made it with Bradford for the fourth time in a row in the Super League Grand Final, in which they lost to Leeds and with Great Britain in the final of the Tri Nations , in which Australia had to admit defeat.

In 2005, Peacock was the captain of the Bulls. In his last season he made it with them to the Super League Grand Final, in which they beat the Leeds Rhinos 15-6. In the same year he was also Britain's captain for the Tri Nations as a replacement for the injured Paul Sculthorpe .

In 2006, Peacock moved from the Bradford Bulls to arch rivals Leeds Rhinos . His debut for Leeds was in the first round against the Huddersfield Giants . At the Tri Nations 2006 he was again captain of Great Britain. A year later he won the Grand Final against St Helens for the first time with Leeds.

In 2008 he won the World Club Challenge with Leeds against the Melbourne Storm and for the second time in a row the Grand Final, again against St Helens. He was elected to the Super League Dream Team for the seventh time and played a friendly against France with England .

On June 16, 2008, it was announced that Peacock would be England's captain at the 2008 Rugby League World Cup . He tried four games, more precisely in the semi-final defeat against New Zealand .

In 2009 he won the Super League for the third time in a row with Leeds and was elected to the Super League Dream Team for the third time in a row. In 2010 he played another friendly against France with England.

In July 2011, Peacock renewed his contract with the Rhinos. Shortly thereafter, he made it with them in the Challenge Cup final, which they lost to the Wigan Warriors .

In early 2012 he was named a member of the Order of the British Empire for his services to rugby league . On June 26, 2012, he announced the end of his international career.

Between 2013 and 2015 he was elected to the Super League Dream Team three times in a row, and he won the Challenge Cup with Leeds in 2014 and 2015. After winning his last game for Leeds, the Super League Grand Final against Wigan, in 2015, he retired from his career. He has announced that he will work as a manager at the Hull Kingston Rovers .
