James Naughton

James Naughton (born December 6, 1945 in Middletown , Connecticut ) is an American actor .

Life

James Naughton graduated from Brown University with a bachelor 's degree in cultural studies . In 1970 he graduated from Yale University with a Masters in Art . He made his debut opposite Timothy Bottoms in the 1972 television drama Look Homeward, Angel . He played one of the bigger roles in the 1974 television series Planet of the Apes .

Naughton starred in the comedy The Devils Club (1996) opposite Goldie Hawn , Diane Keaton and Bette Midler . For this role she won the National Board of Review Award in 1996 as a member of the acting company . In the thriller Oxygen he played the role of Clark Hannon , the husband of Frances Hannon ( Laila Robins ) kidnapped by Harry Houdini ( Adrien Brody ). For roles in the musicals City of Angels and Chicago , he won a Tony Award in the category Best Actor in a Musical in 1990 and 1997 . He also directed the 2003 television adaptation Our Town of the play Our Little Town with Paul Newman in one of the roles.

The children of James Naughton, Greg Naughton (* 1968) and Keira Naughton (* 1971), as well as his brother David (* 1951) are also actors.
