Jammie Thomas-Rasset (* 1977 ) is an American who was sued by Capitol Records for file sharing . Your case is set as a precedent .

She was first sentenced by a court to $ 222,000 in damages. The judgment was later overturned due to a procedural error.

The case was renegotiated in September 2008 in the Duluth District Court , Minnesota , based on the decision of Judge Michael J. Davis . The validity of the evidence was initially questioned. She was represented by Kiwi Camara. Jammie Thomas was sentenced on June 18, 2009 to a fine of $ 1.92 million. She appealed again. Her lawyer was Joe Sibley.
