Jan Shepard

Jan Shepard (actually Josephine Angela Sorbello ; born March 19, 1928 in Quakertown , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress . She gained fame through her appearances in numerous television series as well as her roles in the Elvis Presley films Mein Leben ist der Rhythm and Südsee-Paradies .

Life

Jan Shepard was born Josephine Angela Sorbello to Sicilian parents in Quakertown, Bucks County . The company in which her father worked carried out its own theater productions, which was the first time she came into contact with acting. In first grade, Shepard starred in her first acting role after joining a theater company at her school. More performances followed until she graduated from high school, in which she mostly played the lead role.

She got her first small role in a television series in 1952 at Fireside Theater . Over the next 21 years, Shepard starred in several dozen television series, including guest appearances on The Lone Ranger , A Thousand Miles of Dust and At the Foot of the Blue Mountains and Bonanza . She was also seen four times in different roles from 1961 to 1967 in Smoking Colts and from 1962 to 1965 in Perry Mason . Shepard's most frequent television appearances were in The People of Shiloh Ranch , where she was seen five times between 1965 and 1969.

In addition to her television career, Shepard also played a few supporting roles in films. Her appearances in two Elvis Presley films gained fame here: in 1958 as Mimi Fisher in Mein Leben ist der Rhythmus and in 1966 as Betty Kohana in Südsee-Paradies . In 1973 she ended her acting career. Shepard still gives film interviews about her work as an actress to this day. In 2017 she was on an episode of the talk show Western Trails , in which actors from old westerns and western series are interviewed.

Jan Shepard has been married to actor Ray Boyle since 1952. The marriage remained childless.
