Jang Dong-gun (born March 7, 1972 in Seoul ) is a South Korean actor and musician .

life and career

After childhood in Yongsan-gu , Seoul, he went to the Hangook School of Arts. He made his television debut in the series Our Heaven and celebrated his national breakthrough in 1994 in The Final Jump . The avowed Buddhist is also musically successful, having released four albums so far.

In 1997 , Jang made his debut in a movie ( Repechage ) which earned him the Blue Dragon Best New Actor Award . Two years later, he won the Best Supporting Actor award for his role as a cop in Nowhere to Hide . In 2000 , he starred in the then all-record breaking film Friend, about a high school student joining the Korean mafia . In 2004 he appeared in Brotherhood under the direction of Kang Je-gyu . This film, set during the Korean Civil War , was again a huge success and has since been considered one of the most successful films in the country with over 11.74 million viewers. For this he won the third Blue Dragon Award. In 2005 he suffered a "shipwreck" with Typhoon , the most expensive Korean film of all time to date.

Jang is also active in the advertising industry in his home country . Among other things, he is promoting the Nintendo DS Lite, which has been released in South Korea since January 2007, and related programs such as Dr. Kawashima's brain jogging and a game for playful training in English.

He has been married to the actress Ko So-young since 2010 . They have a son and a daughter together. You have a house in Gapyeong that was designed by architect Kwak Heesoo and received the World Architecture Award in 2016.
