Jarrod Scott "Sally" Saltalamacchia (born May 2, 1985 in West Palm Beach , Florida ) is a former American baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB) on the position of catcher . In 2013 he won the World Series with the Boston Red Sox .
Saltalamacchia has the longest name in major league history.
Career
Saltalamacchia was elected by the Atlanta Braves in the 2003 first round of the MLB Draft . He then played for several years in the minor league teams of the Braves.
Atlanta Braves
After convincing performances in the minor league, Saltalamacchia made his debut for the Braves on May 2, 2007 due to injuries to Brian McCann and Brayan Pena. On May 27, 2007, Saltalamacchia hit his first major league home run against the Philadelphia Phillies . After rumors of change, Saltalamacchia was transferred to the Texas Rangers on July 31, 2007 with Elvis Andruz, Neftali Feliz , Matt Harrison and Beau Jones , in exchange Mark Teixeira and Ron Mahay came to the Braves.
Texas Rangers
On August 1, 2007, he played his first game in the Rangers jersey against the Cleveland Indians . After a successful season with 11 home runs beaten and a batting average of .266, he started the 2008 season .
