Jasenice (German Jassenitz ) is a district of the municipality Lešná in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers north of Valašské Meziříčí and belongs to the Okres Vsetín .

Jasenice is located in the western foothills of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids in the valley of the Jasenický brook. To the north rises the Petřkovická hůrka (608 m), in the northeast the Buňavka (419 m), east the Na Kamenném (502 m), in the southeast the Na Brdech (422 m), west the Slaná voda (414 m) and in the northwest the Rokyty (358 m).

Neighboring towns are Jičina and Kojetín in the north, Straník and Hostašovice in the northeast, Lipůvka in the east, Obora in the southeast, Bynina , Čupka and Mštěnovice in the south, Příluky and Vysoká in the southwest, Lešná in the west and Perná and Petřkovice in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the village belonging to the Krásno rule took place in 1374. In 1406 the place was referred to as Gessenycz , 1418 as Jesenicz and 1437 as Yessnicz . In the 15th century the village came under the rule of Titschein . From 1505 the village name is Morawsky Gesenicz and 1506 Gesenicz handed. In 1535 the village was called Morawske Jasenicze . The first school was built in 1818. The residents lived from agriculture or worked in the limestone quarry. In addition, they earned an extra income by making baskets. Furthermore, until 1853, iron ore was mined in the corridors “Na Šachtách” and Na “Mušině”, which was delivered to the Witkowitz ironworks .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Moravská Jasenice / Moravian Jassenitz 1850 a municipality in the district administration Valašské Meziříčí. The current place name Jasenice has been used since 1872. Since the 1920s, basketry from Jasenice has also been used in the Tatra factories in Kopřivnice . After the cancellation of the Okres Valašské Meziříčí, Jasenice was assigned to the Okres Vsetín in 1960. In 1976 it was incorporated into Lešná. In 1991 there were 357 inhabitants in Jasenice. In 1993, the old school was converted into a senior citizens' residence with eight apartments and care facilities. In the 2001 census, 382 people lived in the village's 108 houses.
