history

The village was probably founded as a clearing settlement at the beginning of the 13th century. The first written mention of Straník took place in 1408 as the seat of the feudal lord Litko von Stranik ( Lítek ze Straníka ). In 1412 his wife Zdenka received a morning gift of 37½ Mark Groschen from Wilhelm von Morkowitz to the village of Skawsko. Lídek von Straník bequeathed the Straník estate in 1433 to Jan (VI.) Von Krawarn auf Titschein , who added it to his reign of Titschein . A year later, with Jan's death, the line of the lords von Krawarn on Fulnek and Titschein expired . Subsequent owners of the estate were u. a. the lords of Boskowitz , from 1500 the lords of Zierotin , after the battle of the White Mountain the barons Hofmann von Grünbüchel, from 1706 the barons Zeno zum Danhaus and from 1772 the imperial counts von Seilern and Aspang . The oldest local seal dates from 1749 and shows a tree with four rosettes on all sides.

In 1835 the village of Stranik in the Prerau district consisted of 65 houses in which 344 people, including 53 Protestants ( AB ) lived. The main sources of income were agriculture and animal husbandry. The village was schooled after Hostaschowitz . The Catholic parish was Alt Titschein , the Protestants belonged to the Tolerance Church in Hotzendorf . Until the middle of the 19th century, Stranik remained subject to the Alt Titschein rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Straník formed from 1849 a municipality in the judicial district of Neutitschein . School lessons began in Straník in 1867, and a schoolhouse was not built until 1873. From 1869 Straník belonged to the Neutitschein district. At that time the village had 445 inhabitants and consisted of 75 houses. Increasingly, residents of the place earned their living by wage labor in the Neutitscheiner industrial companies. In 1900 there were 472 people in Straník, compared to 554 in 1910. In 1905, Friedrich Deym von Střítež acquired the Starý Jičín manor. In 1930 Straník consisted of 105 houses and had 676 inhabitants.

After the Munich Agreement , the purely Moravian-speaking village was initially added to the German Reich in 1938. In the course of further border regulations, Stranik was spun off from the Neu Titschein district on November 24, 1938 and returned to Czechoslovakia . Until 1945 Straník was then assigned to the newly formed district Wallachisch Meseritsch and came back to Okres Nový Jičín after the end of the war. In 1957 the JZD Straník was founded, it was later merged with other cooperatives to form the JZD Beskyd Mořkov . In 1975 a kindergarten opened. At the beginning of 1979 Straník was incorporated into Nový Jičín . After the kindergarten was closed in 1997, a senior citizens' club and a lending facility from the city library were set up in the building. In the 2001 census, there were 468 people in the 150 houses in Straník. In the 2000s, an asylum house was built for the short-term accommodation of mothers with children.
