The settlement was located in the western part of the Jahmen district north of the Węgliniec – Falkenberg / Elster railway , about one kilometer east of the intersection of the old route of the national road 156 with the railway line on which the Uhyst subway station , a pure freight station, was located.

Surrounding towns within a radius of about five kilometers are Boxberg in the north, Kringelsdorf in the northeast, Dürrbach in the east, Jahmen , Klitten , Klein-Oelsa and Kaschel in the southeast, Lieske and Mönau in the southwest and Uhyst an der Spree in the west. In the northwest were the devastated villages of Schöpsdorf and Merzdorf .

history

During the time of National Socialism (especially in Prussia) many places were renamed with names of Slavic origin; in the vicinity, this affected the places Uhyst and Klein-Ölsa, which were called Spreefurt and Oelbrück from 1936 to 1947. Jasua was renamed Jahmen Expansion . As a result of the incorporation of Jahmens, Kaschel and Klein-Ölsas to Klitten, Jasua also came to the municipality of Klitten on April 1, 1938.

In 1987 and 1988 Jasua was the first settlement in the municipality of Klitten to be demolished in favor of the Bärwalde opencast mine . According to official information, 28 residents were affected by the resettlement.

Demonstration in January 1990 against the demolition of Klitten

The rethinking of energy policy that began during the fall of the Berlin Wall and increased protests by the population of Klitten against a devastation in Klitten resulted in a deferral in 1991 and in 1992 in the closure of the Bärwalde opencast mine. As a result, there was no longer coal mining below the locality. At the same time, Jasua remained the only settlement in the former municipality of Klitten that was demolished.

In the course of planning to use the flooded open-cast mine, the desire arose to rebuild a small settlement called Jasua on the Klittener Ufer. Jasua is one of the offered locations for relocating the Mühlrose site , which is being completely dredged over as a result of the expansion of the Nochten opencast mine after two previous relocations.
