Jon Terell Thomas (born July 12, 1948 in Kermit , Texas - † August 24, 2017 in Santa Barbara , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Thomas was the son of Harry T. Terrell Sr. and Katharine "Kathy" Guzzino Terrell. He graduated from high school in New Orleans .

He began his career as a DJ in Jacksonville , Florida . He later went to television where he happily starred in the series Mork vom Ork , Cheers , Murphy Brown and Paarweise . He was awarded an Emmy in 1990 and 1991 for his recurring guest role in Murphy Brown . From 1992 to 1995 he played the lead role in the sitcom Love & War . From the mid-1990s, he also had roles in some movies. He has appeared in more than 90 productions since 1981.

Thomas died in August 2017 aged 69 at his home in Santa Barbara from the effects of cancer .

Since 1987 he was married to Sally Michelson; he had two children with her.
